With the ignition switch on I have about 7.5 volts at the wire. power comes thru the gauge and the sending unit is a variable resister that goes to ground. the differences is what electrical parameters the sending unit is to ground as that can change manf. to manf. ohm wise. so gauge and sending unit need to match. the fuel lights on the instrument cluster show tank is full all the time even if i disconnect wire at sending unit
