We're looking for a newer model used skid steer. Never owned one before but . Curious as to everyone's opinion on the best brand of skid steers on the market . We're looking for a newer model used skid steer. Never owned one before but have ran a few Cats. What models and brands does everyone like? We want a mid size one that will lift at least a ton. Will probably get one with enclosed cab, two speed, and aux hydraulics. Heavily leaning toward a Cat 242- 256 2013 or newer. TIA

The skid-steer will never visit a dealer or mechanic while I have it. One reason I like this particular series is because they're easy to work on, and the parts are available for cheap through the aftermarket. I have a JCB 260 that I bought on ebay last summer. I LOVE the side door and it is the one reason I got a jcb. The other reason is price. JCBs are cheaper to buy and yes I know they are cheaper to sell also. The side door on a skid steer is super nice.

I tried about every dealer from here to FL and local electrical shops. No luck. We bought our first skid steer last year. Mainly for building fence lines, but also for cleaning sheds, so lower height was a limitation. I've always been a deere guy, and after having worked for CAT for a number of years and seeing how many of their skid steers came in broke down, I decided that I didn't want a CAT.
