Disconnect the wiring harness under the seat at 4 places.
I bought my first piece of equipment a few weeks ago, a 2000 CASE 1845c w/2800 hours. I researched plenty and found this model is well liked, reliable and are easy to work on. So far I have rebuilt all control linkages with oilite bronze bushings I modified on my lathe.
Update did some looking on Google and found this YOUTUBE showing an 1840 with the cab completely off. If you can follow the guys description of how it moves you maybe able to figure yours out. It does not have to come completely off .

On the 1845c and 1840 then cab actually rolls forward which requires a little more than the later models that just tip. You have to undo the loader vale linkage, aux. vale linkage, throttle, forward reverse linkage, unplug the harness and then 4 bolts, and the bake linkage, I think that's about it.
The starter motor on this CASE 1840 isn't turning over - it just clicks. In order to gain access to the starter, the manual says to raise the arms, lock them, then slide the cab forward.
