Dark Mode; Light Mode; Menu Log in I have a 1800lb open 16ft trailer that would be more than enough trailer to carry a 6-7k skid steer, theyre low center of gravity, small but heavy, and my dual 5k axles are plenty. Ive pulled a 5900lb new holland tractor and yeah it was HUGE, 2x the size of any skid steer and you just have to be careful. A tracked machine with Mclaren Next Gen tracks will do just as good as any MTL or rubber wheeled skid steer, my vote would be a used 279C. The Cats also scored higher for better fuel economy from a recent test done last year in a European test against Bobcat, Case, New Holland, ASV and Caterpillar. Obviously not moving material across a lawn, but it is nice when moving around a job-site. The most beneficial aspect to us is for snowplowing. I have a John Deere 320 and am planning on trading it for either the new JD322 or a Gehl, but either way, I will be taking a 15+k hit, which is why just buying the tracks alone for my existing skid steer seems much more appealing.
Hey guys thats some serious posts.:usflag: Im a skid steer guy and i only know of 1 guy with a tractor in my area. I wont make a challenge ( getting to old ) But what we do with skid steer and rock hound i cant see a tractor keeping up with us either. On new yard installs we try to have our soil dumped in different areas when possible.
I assume your talking about skid steer buckets and not excavator buckets. The only time I can see teeth worth anything on a skid steer or loader or backhoe is if your digging into a hard bank etc. I used to operate backhoe and loaders quite . I t works beside our 2.5 yd wheel loader and does fine. If i was hogging dirt all day, taki 140 or 259 cat. In my case the smaller frames do great, had a big skid starting out and the smaller track loaders work out a lot better, plus if i need something bigger I grab the wheel loader. hope that helps They were one of the first makers (in the USA) of the track skid steer. Cat 262B: Probably the most refined skid steer of the three. I'll try to address how and how not it is worthy of the extra 4000. Anti-stall feature.
