My 2000 260 skid steer parking brake won't release and the boom won't raise. The left pedal will not unlock however the right one does, allowing the bucket to operate when the motor is running. The engine runs for about 15 minutes at . If the park brake doesn't work it probably means the brake discs are worn out. They are spring applied, hydraulic released. If you raise the cab up just behind each motor there will be a small hydraulic cylinder, thats the brake cylinder.
Customer: I have a John Deere 260 series II skid steer. The brake will not release. I have replaced the brake relay and the brake solenoid. The seat and seat belt switches are bypassed. The lift arms and bucket tilt work like normal. Thanks

All i do is hit the parking brake button and it takes back off again. Parking brake engages while in motion. When this happens there is reverse pressure placed on the control arms and an absolutely excruciating sound of brake pads working against the forward moving motors. Background: When we first acquired the skid steer we had this issue and were able to track it down to the alternator having been rewired .

When I try to go forward or in reverse, it seems to want to move, but it is like something is holding it . We went to go start it up today and move it and the parking brake light wont go off. the skid steer will move but parking brake is on and wont go off. the seat belt light goes off. we took the switch assebly off and put electric grease on it but it did nothing. any other ideas? hate to replace the switch and that not be it, but might be it?
