These were the combo excavator/crawler skid steer units that others have mentioned. So, I spent some hrs looking at & operating both units. That day could be 6-10 hours depending on the job. All jobs take at least full day for MOB and completion and end on a full day even if we spend a 1/2 day on the last day. Our day price is 00. plus materials. This includes all my equipment needed for that day to include dozer, mini, mid size excavator, skid steer, dump truck and two peolpe. I have a Cat 416C tlb, and a mini/skid steer combination. If I had to choose one or the other I think I would go for the tlb. My mini/skid combo is made up of a 12,000# Bobcat 435ZHS and an8,000# A300 (all wheel steer AND skid steer depending on switch position). They are versatile but they will take longer to do most jobs than the tlb.
But like cdm123 said, the skid steers can make a big mess. Not as big of a deal when it's dry out but where it gets wet you can do more damage than good. A mini x/track dumper combo would work. or a decent size track machine which will be able to put a lot more rubber to the road sort of speak.. In North Carolina you can get a Class A Non-CDL license to pull over 10k. It is meant for farmers, pulling large boats, and personal use hauling. You have to take the CDL written test and then a normal driving test with your truck / trailer. I just got my Class A Non-CDL to haul my 12k excavator from the house to some of our land.
