ditch witch sk1550 cost went over to the dealership and had a look at the machines. they had a new SK1050 and an SK1550 they were working on. the SK1550 was in to have both drive motors replaced (it was an older model, apparently those have been recalled). New 2023 KYMRON XH26D Mini Track Excavator. This China excavator has a 26 HP Yanmar diesel engine and features optional Side Swing Boom and Retractable Tracks.

I rented a SK800 for 7 days this morning. I was SHOCKED by how underpowered the machine is. It bogs and turns off constantly. The SK650 has a turbo so i'm used to 32 HP. Over the course of 4 hours of run time, I counted 52 times that the machine turned off. Does anyone have any experience with the SK1050 or SK1550. Are these machines better .

If it can pick up a pallet of pavers or if you're in one of the urban markets where they sell the smaller pallets of sod/pavers you'll love the ditch witch. We use our big MTL on projects probably 5-8 hours/week vs 5-8 hrs a day for the sk 755/650s we have. Machine was just fully serviced, and I cleaned the radiators to make sure dirt buildup wasn't the culprit - fan is working fine as well
I have the sk1550 and it was about 45k, so that price sounds about right. The price is steep on them but they do things full size machines can’t. I think ideally if possible you do buy both. But if not you have to decide how you plan on using your machine. For some like me the mini is great and allows us to do things no one could on a full size. I test drove the sk1550 and the ctx160 at GIE and I am biased towards the ditch witch. Both are very capable machines. One thing I would have to change immediately with the Vermeer is you have to stand on the platform to move it. I always walk behind my machine when loading and unloading in my dump trailer. I'm planning to order an SK1550 soon. I was thinking of getting a 60" smooth bucket for bulk material, final grading, moving firewood, and snow. I was also going to get a second 48" toothed bucket for digging and rough grading. I'm in the North East with rocky soil. DITCH WITCH SK1050 OR SK1550.
